Training is $25 suggested donation, FREE for low-income individuals, $50 suggested organization contribution.
-No prior organizing experience is required.
-Interpretation for Spanish will be available.
-Childcare will be provided.
-Event is wheelchair accessible.
Organized by Worcester Roots Project with support from Worcester Lead Paint Abatement Program / Worcester Green and Healthy Homes and in collaboration with Community Builders at Plumley Village.
Topics will include:
- History of community organizing, in Worcester and beyond.
- Environmental Health and Justice Organizing
- Understanding Power, Power Mapping
- Anti-Oppression Organizing: Tools to understand and tackle oppressions and where they intersect… Race, Class, Immigration and Religion & Gender, Sexuality, Age and Ability
- Organizing Tactics: Outreach, House Parties and One to Ones for Community Organizing
- Movement Building, Connecting Global and Local issues, Strategy
Training is FREE, however, if you can get an organization to sponsor you, their $50 contribution will help cover the food costs for the training.
Other important items:
- No prior organizing experience is required.
- Interpretation for Spanish will be available.
- Childcare will be provided free of charge if requested in registration form (see form for details).
- Dinner will be served at each training session.
- Event is wheelchair accessible.
